15                                                          The cloudy sky, the downpour and lush greenery all around makes the monsoon season a beautiful time to enjoy and get relief from the scorching, harsh and sweaty summers. But despite the goodness of monsoon, there is a lot of negativity that accompanies this season. Many people get sick during the monsoon as the damp and filthy conditions give the insects and pathogenic micro-organisms a chance to multiply and spread diseases like dengue, malaria, typhoid, conjunctivitis, viral fever, common cold and flu, pneumonia and gastro-intestinal disturbances like diarrhea and dysentery.

If you really want to enjoy the monsoon season, keep these tips in mind and stay healthy.

  • Wash your hands often.
  • Have only well cooked and hot food prepared in a hygienic manner.
  • Wash fruits and vegetables thoroughly before cooking.
  • Consume only boiled and filtered water.
  • Keep your surroundings clean.
  • Avoid junk food.
  • Keep your body warm and dry.
  • Dry your feet when they get wet.
