AHPRA Starts Sending Out Decision Letters !

Over the past few months, the National Board and the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) have reviewed and strengthened their processes to support the nationally consistent assessment of applications for registration from internationally qualified nurses and midwives (IQNMs). The AHPRA, which had been withholding Decision letters since October 8, 2013, have now started sending these letters stating terms of eligibility to applicants.

Many overseas qualified nurses who have received the Decision letters will now sign up for the Registration Bridging program that can be the start of a wonderfully fulfilling career in Australia. The AHPRA Decision letter is given to applicants seeking Registration to work in Australia, after a thorough assessment of the candidate’s qualifications and experience. It states the need for the applicant to undergo a Bridging Program which gives an introduction to healthcare practices in Australia, and ensures that overseas qualified nurses learn the local laws and can easily adapt to working in the country.

IHNA is now calling for applications for admission to their next IRON Program batch. This course is designed to provide you with the knowledge, skills and understanding to practice safe and competent healthcare in a variety of settings. Graduates who successfully complete this course will be eligible to apply to the AHPRA for registration as a Registered Nurse.
