Seminar on Suction and Tracheostomy Care!

A workshop on Suction and Tracheostomy care was conducted at the KIMS Hospital, Edappally on Tuesday, the 14th of May 2013 between 1.30 and 4.30 PM. Twenty two hospital staff took part in the workshop during which comprehensive knowledge on all aspects of Suction and Tracheostomy care was imparted.

Tracheostomy care and tracheal suctioning are high-risk procedures and require very careful handling. To avoid poor outcomes, nurses who perform them must strictly follow evidence-based guidelines. Trach patients are at high risk for airway obstruction, impaired ventilation, infection as well as other secondary complications. Skilled bedside nursing care can prevent these complications.

Mrs. Sini Jacob (Operations Manager) commenced the session with an inspiring introduction about IHM’s vision and mission in the health care industry. This was followed by the course delivery, which was skillfully handled by  Ms.Juhi K Raju(Nurse Educator),and ably supported by Jobin M A(Nurse Educator) & Ann Mary George (Admission Consultant).

The seminar was very well received.
